Call For IFA To Investigate Alleged Sectarian Attack

Sinn Féin is calling on the Irish Football Association (IFA) to investigate an alleged sectarian attack involving football supporters on a bar in Portadown.

Customers and staff were allegedly attacked by Linfield fans and windows broken.

Councillor Gemma McKenna said the attack was "shocking and disgraceful".

She said: "It is the second such incident in Portadown in less than 12 months.

"Following a previous incident my party colleagues and I raised concerns with the PSNI over policing around matches and how fans were policed travelling to and from the ground.

"We will also be raising this latest incident with the PSNI to discuss what measures can be put in place to prevent a repeat of such attacks in the future."

Family Bring Home Body Of Karen Buckley

The body of Karen Buckley, a student from Cork found murdered in Glasgow, has been returned to Cork.

Ms Buckley's body was brought home by her parents on a special Aer Lingus/Stobart Air flight from Glasgow today.

Her funeral is to be held in the north Cork village of Mourneabbey on Tuesday.

Ms Buckley was found at a farm on the outskirts of Glasgow after going missing on a night out with friends earlier this month.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with her murder.

Alliance Promises To Tackle Tax Dodging

Alliance MLA Naomi Long has pledged to make tackling tax dodging a priority in the new Parliament.

The Alliance East Belfast Westminster candidate said transparency in public life would be an important issue for any Alliance MPs to pursue with the new Government.

She said: "Tax evasion costs the country a substantial amount of money each year. It is money that could be used to stimulate economic growth and improve public services.

"A tax-dodging bill, introduced as a matter of priority within the first 100 days of the new Parliament, would see a massive reform to the system. Such a bill would require in law for foreign companies to pay tax on profits generated within the UK.

"It would also improve transparency by opening up companies' tax activities to the public, while strengthening the enforcement of and penalties for tax evasion."
