Lo Supports Campaign Against Review Of Birds And Habitats Directives

The European Commission has launched a campaign against a proposed review of the birds and habitats directives.

The umbrella organisation, Northern Ireland Environment Link, has spoken out against the consultation on the environmental laws, with a decision being taken next year on any possible changes.

Alliance Environment spokesperson, Anna Lo MLA, has given her support to the campaign.

Anna Lo MLA said: "I am giving my support to the campaign against the proposed review of these European environmental laws.

"Northern Ireland's natural environment is one of our main assets and I would be seriously concerned by the implications of any change to the birds and habitats directives which could lead to a drastic weakening of vital environmental rules."
