Minister Commends Nurses' Commitment And Dedication

The Health Minister has commended nurses across Northern Ireland during a visit to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.

Speaking on International Nurses Day, Minister Simon Hamilton thanked nurses for their commitment and dedication.

Minister Hamilton said: "Our health service continues to experience significant pressures yet despite this, nurses ensure dignity and respect for everyone they care for.

"They are often the first person a patient sees when they come into contact with the Health Service and they remain in close contact throughout the patient's journey. The lasting impressions made by nurses underpin the continued respect and belief in our NHS and I thank them for that."

Chief Nursing Officer Charlotte McArdle added: "We have over 16,000 nurses across Northern Ireland who do a magnificent job across all areas of our health service, delivering a very high standard of health care, often under pressure. I know that they are highly committed and regularly go beyond the call of duty to make lives better for their patients every day."
