Work Starts On Crossmaglen Resurfacing Scheme
Transport NI has started on a resurfacing scheme on the C227 Dundalk Road, Crossmaglen.
The scheme involves the resurfacing and associated works of a 0.9kilometre stretch of the C227 Dundalk Road between the U5470 Lissaraw Road junction and the U5602 Lismore Road junction. Where necessary the drainage and associated footways will also be improved.
The duration of the works is ten weeks and a road closure for the surfacing works will be required and will be implemented during July 2015.
Govt To Introduce Legislation To Ban 'Legal Highs'
Alliance Strangford MLA, Kieran McCarthy, has welcomed the announcement in the Queen's Speech that the Government will introduce legislation to ban so called 'legal highs'.
Mr McCarthy MLA said: "I am very pleased that the Government will bring legislation to ban so called 'legal highs'. These substances should not be available to cause harm and take the lives of people in our society.
"The recent death of Newtownards teenager Adam Owens has shown the importance of banning these substances. I would like to again pass on my thoughts to his family and to those who have lost a relative to these substances."
Bill Introduced To Secure Air-Links Between NI And London
Ulster Unionist Peer Lord Empey has introduced a Bill in the House of Lords which would ensure that Her Majesty's Government would have the power to ensure adequate access to the national hub of London Heathrow from regional airports in the interests of national air infrastructure.
Lord Empey said: "For several years now I have been actively working in conjunction with my Party colleague Jim Nicholson MEP to ensure that Northern Ireland is not cut off from the national hub airport at Heathrow.
"The aviation business is a very volatile one and I want to put in place a long-term guarantee that there will be access for flights from Belfast to London Heathrow, given its importance to our future economic well-being.
"Having been successful in the ballot for Private Members Bills, I have therefore tabled one today which would amend the Airports Act 1986 and which would enable the Secretary of State to direct airport operators in the interests of national air infrastructure."

Man Dies In Workplace Accident In Co Armagh
A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
