Credit Union Robbed In West Belfast

A credit union has been robbed in west Belfast.

The incident occurred on the Springfield Road on Thursday just after 5pm.

Two men, one armed with a firearm, approached a female staff member and demanded money. One of the men was wearing a cream hooded top and the other a black hooded top.

They made off with a sum of money in a red Mitsubishi Carisma driven by a third man.

Detective Sergeant Natalie McNally said: "Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would ask for anyone who noticed the red coloured Mitsubishi car or any suspicious activity in the area between just before 5 pm or anyone with any information to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of two men at Laganside Crown Court for a number of offences, following a major investigation into the activities of the east Belfast UVF. James McGrogan, aged 37, and 32-year-old Christopher Cullen were both convicted on Thursday 18th April, for a number of drug-related offences.

Renewed Appeal For Information In West Belfast Murder Investigation
The PSNI's Major Investigation Team have renewed an appeal for information following the death of a man in west Belfast. A murder investigation was launched after a man was found seriously injured and unconscious in the Cupar Street area of the city on Wednesday evening, 6 March. The man passed away in hospital later that same night.

PSNI Appeal For Information Following Banbridge Shooting
PSNI Detectives have issued an appeal for information following a shooting incident in Banbridge on Friday, 12 April. Shortly after 8pm, it was reported that a man aged in his 40s had been shot in his abdomen while in the car park on Rathfriland Road. Taken to hospital, his condition has been described as serious.
