Man In Court Over Attempted Robberies And Firearm Offences

A man is expected to appear in court today, 08 July, charged with carrying a firearm and a number of other offences in north Belfast.

The man has been charged with two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of going equipped for theft and two counts of carrying a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. 

A man was arrested following the attempted robbery of a bookmakers in the Union Street area and the attempted robbery of another bookmakers in the Little Donegall Street area.

All charges are to be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Police appeal after Co Antrim armed robberies
Police have appealed for information in relation to two armed robberies which occurred in Co Antrim yesterday. At around 4.45pm yesterday, two men, armed with a handgun and a knife, entered a shop on the Doagh Road, Ballyclare. They threatened staff but left short time later empty-handed.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.

Belfast Man Handed Two-Year Stalking Protection Order
The PSNI have welcomed a two-year Stalking Protection Order (SPO) handed down to a 46-year-old Belfast man at Belfast Magistrates Court. The man had been found guilty of stalking and harassing his 50-year-old female ex-partner.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.
