Man Attacks Staff Member During Armed Robbery In South Belfast

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in south Belfast.

The incident happened at a fast food restaurant in the Botanic Avenue area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A man hit a female member of staff with a hammer before making off with a sum of money and another staff member's mobile phone.

The victim, a woman aged in her 20s, suffered bruising to her side. The other staff member, also a woman in her 20s, was not injured in the incident.

The man is described as being of medium build, approximately 5'6" tall and he was wearing a balaclava, a light blue t-shirt and dark jeans.

Detective Sergeant Dolores Black said: "I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Renewed Appeal For Information On Bookmaker Robbery
The PSNI have renewed an appeal for information on the robbery of a bookmakers on Lecky Road in L'Derry on Saturday 26 March. A man, described as being around 6'2" tall and wearing a grey-hooded top and dark-coloured bottoms, entered the shop at around 4:10pm and approached the counter area where he struck a screen with an unidentified object.
