Proposed Cycling Infrastructure On Display At City Hall

Proposals for the further development of bicycles infrastructure in Belfast are on display today at City Hall.

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has invited the public to the public information event, where details of the proposed routes will be on display and Department of Regional Development Cycling Unit will be on hand to answer questions.

Danny Kennedy said: "As an important element of my ambition to improve the bicycle network across Belfast, I am inviting the local community to become involved in making the city more accessible and attractive for the bicycle."

The proposed routes include stretches from the Westlink at Grosvenor Road through to Castle Junction and from Castle Junction to Titanic Quarter Station, linking to the Comber Greenway.

The schemes are still at an early stage of development and once the designs have been finalised, a formal consultation will be carried out.

"My Department is working concurrently on a draft Bicycle Network Plan for Belfast which will be open to public consultation later in the year.

"The Plan will guide the development of bicycle routes in the city over the next 10 years," Mr Kennedy added.
