Boy Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Car In North Belfast

A young boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in north Belfast.

The incident happened in North Queen Street at around 7.30pm on Monday.

The road, which was closed to be examined, has been reopened.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

College In Lurgan Officially Opens

St Ronan's College in Lurgan has officially opened.

The Co-educational 11-18 voluntary grammar school is an amalgamation of St Mary's High School, St Paul’' Junior High School and St Michael's Grammar School Lurgan, following the approval of a development proposal in February 2014.

New Welding Academy Launches

A new Welding Academy in Northern Ireland has launched.

The Academy, under the Department's Assured Skills initiative, will provide ten individuals with the skills and experience required to take up new opportunities in the engineering sector with SDC Trailers (SDC), Magherafelt and MDF Engineering (MDF), Antrim.

The Academy will offer an intensive eight week training programme followed by a four week company placement. Successful participants will gain industry recognised qualifications and be interviewed by the companies on completion. Applications to the Welding Academy will close on Friday, 11 September at 4pm and the training programme for successful applicants will start on 28 September.

Training will be delivered by Northern Regional College at their Newtownabbey Campus.

The Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJINI) have published a report on the effectiveness of part one of the PSNI's Domestic Abuse and Civil Proceedings Act (NI) 2021.

The Department of Education have published a list of all schools across that have confirmed they will be closed today, Friday 2nd March, 2018 due to the adverse weather conditions.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

NIFRS Welcomes Graduation Of Latest 36 Wholetime Firefighters
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has welcomed the graduation of 36 new firefighters, the final graduates to complete their journey at the Boucher Learning & Development Centre (LDC). This graduating class marks the official opening of the final phase of their new cutting edge training facility in Cookstown.

Further Six Projects In Shared Education Programme
A further six projects involving over 20 schools have signed up to the second call in the Shared Education Campuses Programme. The Shared Education Campuses Programme was launched in January 2014 by Minister for Education John O'Dowd. Under the Programme the Department is aiming to invest in projects involving the need for new shared facilities.
