On The Run Sex Offender Arrested

Police have arrested a convicted sex offender after he failed to return to Magilligan Prison following a home visit.

John Patrick Smith, 29, has convictions for gross indecency with or towards a child, rape, aggravated assault, being armed with offensive weapon to commit offence, threats to kill and drug use.

He was arrested by police on Wednesday.

No further information has been released.

A convicted sex offender who was unlawfully at large in England has handed himself in to Northern Ireland police. PSNI appealed for help in finding Fermanagh man James Taggart last week, reporting he was seen recently in the Essex area. The 27-year-old handed himself into a PSNI station yesterday, Monday 26 July.

Man Arrested Following Incident At House In Coleraine
A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.

Appeal Following Serious Assault And Robbery In Antrim
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed in Antrim during the early hours of Monday, 18 March. The 26-year-old was walking in an alleyway adjacent to Seacash Drive at around 3.50am when he was approached by two men.
