Students Develop 100ft Meccano Bridge In Belfast
Engineering students from Queen's University have developed a 100ft footbridge in Belfast, made entirely from Meccano.
Designed and built by a group of third year Civil Engineering students and local school children, the temporary Meccano bridge, which will span more than 100 feet across Belfast's Clarendon Dock, will be revealed on Saturday 19 September.
Around 11,000 pieces of Meccano were used to build the bridge, which weighs 600kg.
Representatives from Guinness World Records will be on site to confirm if the project to build a bridge entirely from Meccano has earned a Guinness World Record for the world's largest ever Meccano construction.
The project has received funding from the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, AECOM, Meccano and Queen’s Annual Fund with technical support and advice from civil engineering contractors, McLaughlin and Harvey. Smyths Toys and Belfast Harbour will be supporting the event.

Officer: 'Only Option Was To Shoot'
A police officer has told an inquest he had no option but to shoot when he was confronted with a robber at a petrol station. 29-year-old Marc Alexander Ringland died in hospital after being shot in the chest by the officer. He had carried out the robbery at a petrol station on the Albert bridge Road in east Belfast last February.

East Belfast Church suffers substantial damage by vandals
Vandals have attacked a church in east Belfast, causing substantial damage to stained glass windows. The incident happened at the Albert Bridge Congregational Church on the Woodstock Link, however, the attack is not thought to have had a sectarian motive.

Chief Constable Criticised For Not Inviting UUP To PNSI Graduation
The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) has criticised PNSI Chief Constable, Jon Boutcher, for his failure to invite their party leader, Doug Beattie, to the PSNI Graduation Ceremony. UUP member of the Policing Board, Mike Nesbitt, said: "For the avoidance of doubt, I welcome the fact Michelle O'Neill MLA will attend in her capacity as First Minister.
