Pensioner In Critical Condition Following M1 Crash

A pensioner is in a critical condition in hospital after driving the wrong way on the M1 motorway on Monday.

A Volkswagen Polo crashed into a stationary police car on the westbound carriageway. The 84-year-old man, who was driving the Volkswagen, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A police officer was also injured and received hospital treatment.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Man Arrested Over Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of another man in November last year. The 42-year-old suspect was arrested in Craigavon on Tuesday, 12 April, and is currently in police custody.

Man Critical After Stabbing
The PSNI have said a 28-year-old man is in critical condition following a stabbing in north Belfast. The man was attacked on Thursday afternoon at a block of flats at Shore Crescent, located off the Shore Road. A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Police say that the investigation is ongoing.

Five held over doorman assault are released
Five men arrested in connection with the assault of a doorman at a Co Antrim hotel have been released without charge. The men were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident which occurred at the Chimney Corner Hotel on the outskirts of Belfast at around 2.30am on Sunday.
