NAMA's Refusal To Appear Before Committee 'Regrettable' - McKay
The Irish National Assets Management Agency's (NAMA) refusal to appear before the Public Accounts Committee has been described as "regrettable" by Sinn Féin.
Sinn Féin MLA and Assembly Finance Committee chair Daithí McKay was speaking after attending a meeting of the Dáil Public Accounts Committee. Mr McKay said despite the huge public interest in this issue, the efforts of the committee have been frustrated by some key witnesses.
He said: "The co-operation between representatives of the Assembly's Finance Committee and the Dáil's Public Accounts Committee to date has been valuable in shedding light on the events leading up to the sale of NAMA's northern loan portfolio.
"The continued reluctance of NAMA to appear before the Committee is regrettable and deeply frustrating.
"NAMA and others cannot continue to use the excuse of the ongoing criminal investigation as a reason for not coming before the committee.
"Invitations to oral hearings have been issued to the First Minister, former Finance Ministers, former Permanent Secretaries, former Special Advisers and members of the Advisory Committee.
"The committee is expecting that all of these witnesses will willingly make themselves available."

£688m Announced For Public Sector Pay Awards
£688 million has been announced to prioritise public sector pay awards, Finance Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald MLA has announced. The allocation was part of the £1.045bn available from the Executive Restoration package for general pressures and pay in 2023-24. Some £22 million of resource funding was also available from the Executive’s own funds.
