Police come under petrol bomb attack

Police in Londonderry have escaped injury following a petrol bomb attack late last night.

Officers came under attack in Butcher Street when a number of youths threw a pipe bomb at premises. No damage was caused however another device was later thrown at a police vehicle in Rossville Street. No one was injured.

Later that evening two petrol bombs were thrown at a wall in the city's Fountain estate, whilst the Masonic Lodge military base was hit by another device which caused minor damage.

House Damaged In Petrol Bomb attack
A house in Larne has been damaged in a petrol bomb attack, according to police. It happened on Church Way at around 10.30pm on Wednesday. A man was in the house at the time but was unhurt. Minor damage was caused to the property and a window was smashed. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A foreign national woman who is eight months pregnant was among four people targeted in a petrol bomb attack at the weekend. Police believe that the incident - in County Tyrone - was racial in its nature.

TWO elderly Protestant sisters have escaped injury after a petrol bomb attack on their East Belfast home. The women, aged 73 and 79, escaped injury after a passing police patrol discovered a fire at their home and forced their way into the house in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Two Men Escape Injury After Petrol Bomb Attack In Ballymena
Two men have escaped injury following a petrol bomb attack at a house in Ballymena. The incident happened shortly before midnight on Edward Street on Thursday, 28 September. The living room window of the property was smashed and a petrol bomb was thrown inside and caused smoke damage to the curtains.

Man Arrested In Connection With 1992 Police Officer Murder
A 59-year-old man has been arrested at Birmingham Airport in connection with a fatal mortar attack in Newry in 1992. The man was arrested on Wednesday, 21 February by detectives from PSNI's Legacy Investigation Branch, investigating the murder of Constable Colleen McMurray and the attempted murder of her colleague in 1992.
