Accountancy Firm Employees Arrested On Suspicion Of Tax Evasion

Four employees of the Belfast office of accountancy firm KPMG have been arrested on suspicion of tax evasion.

Officials from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs made the arrests on Wednesday.

KPMG said the four men have been placed on "administrative leave".

In a statement the firm said: "Pending further information and enquiry, we can confirm that four partners in our Belfast office are on administrative leave. As the matter is ongoing, KPMG is not in a position to make any further comments at this stage."

A spokesperson from the HMRC said: "Officers arrested four individuals from Northern Ireland in connection with suspected tax evasion. We can't comment further."
