Man Arrested After Car Crashes Through Crowd Released

A 24-year-old man arrested after a car crashed into a crowd of people in south Belfast has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Six people were injured and two are in a critical condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The collision occurred in the Apollo Road area, just off the Boucher Road, at around 8.30pm on Monday.

It is believed a television crew were filming a reconstruction for a crime show when the crash happened.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) spokesman John McPoland said it was immediately declared a "major incident".

"We got reports of a car going out of control [which] ploughed into a crowd of people," Mr McPoland told BBC Radio Ulster.

"We attended with seven A&E ambulances, a number of officers and a number of rapid response paramedics and we have taken six people away from the scene.

"People have a mixture of injuries including fractures and facial injuries."
