Man Arrested Following Arson Attack In Co Down

A man has been arrested in connection with an arson attack in Co Down.

The incident happened in the Clarehill Lane area in Holywood at around 6.30am on Saturday.

A shed was deliberately set alight and spread to a nearby oil tank and a family home.

Detective Constable Kacey Dickson said: "Thankfully the occupants, a couple aged 28 and 26, and their 4-year-old daughter, were able to make their way outside unharmed however their home was extensively damaged.

"The suspect was arrested early this afternoon at an address in Oakley Avenue. He remains in custody at present.

"We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about this crime to get in touch with us by calling Reactive and Organised Crime detectives on 101."

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville

Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.
