32-Year-Old Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A 32-year-old man from Oxfordshire has been convicted at Dungannon Magistrates' Court for benefits fraud.
Gary Smyth, of Lower Barn Farm, South Fawley claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £804 while failing to declare employment.
He was given a conditional discharge, fined £520 and ordered to pay an offender's Levy of £15.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Northern Ireland's largest strike in around 50 years has gotten underway today, 18 January. Around 170,000 public sector workers are taking part in the industrial action. Members from over 15 unions including health, education and transport workers are taking part in the day of mass industrial action.

Benefit Frauds Lose Money - But Not Always
New regulations on those found guilty of benefit fraud are to 'deny' claimants benefits for a month - under a new 'One Strike' rule. However, while fraudsters will automatically lose benefit for four weeks, on being successfully prosecuted, a 'Hardship Provision' will apply to ensure that the basic needs of vulnerable people continue to be met.

Co Tyrone Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted of benefit fraud for claiming income and housing support he was not entitled to. Christopher McElroy, aged 37, was given a four month custodial sentence suspended for 18 months at Dungannon Magistrates' Court on Monday 09 December.
