A security alert close to a primary school in west Belfast has been declared a hoax.

A suspicious object was found near to Christ the Redeemer Primary School in the Lagmore Drive area on Monday.

Police and army bomb disposal experts attended the scene.

Children and teachers has to be evacuated from the school during the alert.

She said: "Luckily this device turned out to be a hoax device but it caused massive disruption to the local community. The people who did this are reckless and have no regard for anyone.

"This follows on from other devices left at the weekend in built-up residential areas affected and now we have a device close a primary school in Lagmore.

"Those behind these devices have done nothing but the endanger the men, women and children of this community.
