Holyland Residents Meet With Minister

Residents from the Holylands in Belfast have met with the Employment and Learning Minister after 11 people were arrested on St Patrick's Day.

Dr Stephen Farry told the Holyland Regeneration Association "we need to look afresh at what different steps need to be taken".

He said: "I intend to raise the issue with my Executive colleagues and all other relevant parties to see how we can better address the issue. A range of measures will be required which need to be delivered collectively. Only through joint action and cooperation can we avoid these kinds of scenes in future years.

"Regarding those students involved, the universities have said they will be robust in their disciplining to send a clear signal that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated. The universities have already made clear to their students that breaking the law and engaging in this kind of behaviour can have long-term consequences for their future careers."
