Paul McAuley Murder: Man Arrested In England

A 61-year-old man has been arrested in England over the murder of Paul McAuley.

Mr McAuley died in a care facility in June last year, almost nine years after he was attacked in L'Derry.

The suspect was detained in Kent on Wednesday, 06 April, and has been brought to Northern Ireland for questioning.

He is being interviewed by police at Musgrave police station.

Two men, aged 27 and 28, who were detained on Wednesday in L'Derry also remain in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey, said: "We said after Paul died that this investigation would take on a renewed momentum and this momentum is continuing. One person has been charged with murder and another individual has been reported to the public prosecution service.

"Detectives are available to speak with anyone who decides they want to talk to us. Even after almost 10 years, it is not too late to do the right thing and come forward. Anyone with information about the attack and its tragic outcome can speak to detectives on the non-emergency number 101."

Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Ballycastle Supermarket
An investigation has been launched following the armed robbery of a supermarket in Ballycastle on Tuesday, 09 April. It was reported to police, that at around 11pm a masked man entered the Castle Street store carrying a spray bottle of an unknown substance. The man approached a cashier and demanded money, threatening them with the spray bottle.
