Children Aged Between 12 And 16 Found Drunk In South Belfast Field

Up to 100 boys and girls aged between 12 and 16 were found by police drinking in south Belfast.

Some of the children in the Lagan Meadows area in Stranmillis were "worst for wear with drink", according to the PSNI.

The fire service was also called to put out some gorse fires.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "This area is very dark, has barbed wire fences, and is beside the river.

"Listen I don't want to be a killjoy, but equally I don't fancy pulling someone out of the river, and I am sure you agree fire service have more important calls to attend."

A message was also posted on the South Belfast PSNI's Facebook page to parents which reads: "Do you know where your children are tonight?"
