New Secretary Of State For NI Meets With Justice Minister

The new Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, James Brokenshire, has met with Justice Minister Claire Sugden MLA.

They discussed a range of strategic issues including the current security situation in NI, the operational implications of the EU referendum outcome, the justice elements of the Fresh Start Agreement and how the region can move forward in establishing the structures to deal with the legacy of the past.

Minister Sugden said: "I look forward to a positive working relationship with the Secretary of State and am committed to working with him alongside my Executive colleagues to ensure the best interests of Northern Ireland are represented."

Women Left 'Shaken' After Shooting

Court Penalties Are 'Not Fine', Says Ford
The NI Justice Minister David Ford has today published for consultation proposals to tackle the problem of fine default. Motorists who refuse to pay their court fines could have their vehicles seized, clamped or have their licence endorsed under proposals put out to the public.
