Armed Men Rob House In Co Tyrone

A man and woman have been left very badly shaken after two men, one believed to be armed with a gun, robbed a house in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

The incident happened at a property in the Circular Road area at around 10pm on Friday, 22 July.

The pair forced their way into the house and threatened the occupants before making off with a sum of cash and jewellery.

Detective Inspector Will Tate said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Detectives at Cookstown on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1441 22/07/16. Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

A 31-year-old man who travelled to Belfast to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl, has pleaded guilty to a number of sexual abuse offences against children. Anil Patel pled guilty to attempted sexual communication with a child, arranging the commission of a child sex offence and possessing extreme pornography of children.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

Richard Pengelly Appointment 'Raises A Number Of Questions' – SDLP
The SDLP Opposition at Stormont has said that the appointment of Richard Pengelly as Chief Executive of the Education Authority "raised a number of questions". Mr Pengelly, who has been working as Permanent Secretary at the Department of Justice, was appointed to the new role on Thursday 21 March, by Education Minister Paul Givan.
