Police Appeal After Woman Killed In West Belfast Scrambler Collision

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a woman was killed in a scrambler collision in west Belfast.

Valerie Armstrong died after she was struck by a scrambler at Colin Glen Forest Park on Tuesday, 19 July.

A 17-year-old male appeared in court accused of causing death by dangerous driving and having no insurance. He has been remanded in custody for four weeks.

Another male, aged 15, has been released on police bail.

Inspector James Murphy said: "The investigation into this tragic incident continues and we are now appealing to a male passer-by who was present at the scene of the collision, and who may have spoken to the rider of the scrambler, to come forward. We believe this man has information which could be of assistance to our investigation and I would ask him to contact police at Woodbourne on 101 quoting reference 1041 19/07/16."

It was reported that at around 2.10am on Tuesday morning, two petrol bombs were thrown at the back wall of a house in the Castlewellan Road area, causing scorch damage to the wall and a window frame.

Renewed Appeal For Help Tracing Paula Elliott
The PSNI have issued a fresh appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of Paula Elliott, who was last seen on Tuesday, 05 March. The 52-year-old was last seen on CCTV cameras leaving the Sprucefield Court area of Lisburn at 5.30pm, before making her way to Warren Gardens at around 5.36pm.

Appeal Following Theft Of Quad Bikes And Trailer In Magherafelt
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following the theft of three quad bikes and a quad trailer in the Magherafelt area last week. On Tuesday 5th March police received reports that a Dark Green Suzuki King 750CC Quad and a Red 2022 4x4 quad had been taken from two neighbouring properties in the Quilly Road area of Moneymore.

Public Appeal After Third Confirmed Case Of Measles In Ireland
The Public Health Agency (PHA) has announced that it has been made aware of a third confirmed case of measles in the Republic of Ireland. It is understood that the case was confirmed in a resident of Ireland who had arrived back in the country from Abu Dhabi on Saturday 9 March 2024.
