Pipe Bomb Thrown At Police In L'Derry

A pipe bomb has been thrown at police in L'Derry.

The incident happened after a bonfire was set alight on the Lecky Road on Monday night, 15 August.

A number of residents also had to be evacuated from their homes during a security which ended shortly after 3am.

Union jacks and Sinn Fein election posters were also burned on the fire.

PSNI district commander Mark McEwan said: "We are investigating all offences committed at the bonfire in the Bogside last night including a serious incident where a viable pipe bomb-type device was thrown at a police patrol."

DUP MLA Gary Middleton said: "We have witnessed too many occasions where such terrorists have held this city to ransom and we must demonstrate that such violence and threat cannot be part of our society."

Appeal Following Petrol Bomb Attack In Banbridge
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a petrol bomb attack in Banbridge, in the early hours of Tuesday 19th March. It was reported that at around 2.10am on Tuesday morning, two petrol bombs were thrown at the back wall of a house in the Castlewellan Road area, causing scorch damage to the wall and a window frame.

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a stabbing incident in Downpatrick. Police received a report shortly after 6pm on Saturday, 17th February that a man had been stabbed on a pathway in the St Dympnas Avenue area of the town.

Man Arrested In Connection With Banbridge Shooting
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Banbridge on Friday 12 April. Detectives investigating the shooting incident carried out a search of two properties in the Mullaghbawn and Banbridge areas on Wednesday, 17 April.

Pipe Bomb May Have Been Thrown At Police
A pipe bomb may have been thrown at PSNI officers in north Belfast, it has been revealed. The announcement follows the discovery of the device during a security alert on the Whitewell Road on Wednesday night. The viable device was located close to commercial premises and led to a number of homes being evacuated at about 23:00 on Wednesday evening.

Pipe Bomb Thrown At Police
A viable pipe bomb has been thrown at a police vehicle in Londonderry. A number of people were evacuated during a security alert in the Bogside area on Wednesday morning after the device was thrown at police on Tuesday night. The device was confirmed as viable during the alert, which closed Charlotte Street, Barrack Street and the Lecky flyover.
