Two People Arrested Over Alleged USPCA Fraud

Two people have been arrested by police investigating allegations of fraud at an animal charity.

A 53-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were arrested in the Newry area this morning, 14 September, following a complaint made to the PSNI over potential fraud within the USPCA.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Wilson, from PSNI Economic Crime Unit, said: "A complaint was made to police in April and, as a result of our enquiries, two people were arrested this morning.

"They are being questioned at Banbridge police station."

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.

Man Charged In Possession Of Heroin
A man is to appear in court charged in possession of heroin. Police arrested five people during searches of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 16 January. Two men have also been charged in possession of a Class A drug. A 50-year-old woman has also been charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class A drug.

Man Arrested Over Attempted Murder Of Off-Duty Police Officer
A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer in Co L'Derry. A viable under-car bomb was discovered outside a house in the Ardanlee area on 22 February last year. Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene. No-one was injured.

Five to appear in court in connecton with Bangor robbery
Five youths are to appear in Downpatrick Magistrates Court today charged in connection with the robbery of an off-licence in Bangor on Tuesday night. Two youths, who entered the premises on the Rathgael Road, assaulted two female members of staff before making off with a sum of money and alcohol.

Police have released five men on police bail after a major fraud swoop on premises throughout Northern Ireland yesterday. The Organised Crime task Force unit smashed a multi-million pound fraud ring centred on Northern Ireland's construction industry on Tuesday.

Man questioned following arms find in Coalisland
A 42-year-old man has been taken in for questioning following a series of searches in Coalisland in County Tyrone which uncovered firearms and a sum of money. The cache is thought to be connected to dissident republican activity.

Man arrested in connection with 1981 murder
Detectives investigating the murder of a nine-year-old girl in Co Down nearly 25 years ago have today arrested a man on suspicion of her murder. Jennifer Cardy was discovered dead by two fishermen at McKee's Dam near Hillsborough in 1981 after being snatched as she cycled to a friend's house on 12 August that same year.

Three People Released On Bail After Shooting In Co Down
Three people arrested following a shooting incident in Co Down have been released on bail pending further enquiries. Two men escaped injury after shots were fired at a flat in the Castleview area at around 6am on Sunday, 14 January. The victims were not hurt but were left badly shaken, according to the police.

Two People Escape Injury After Arson Attack In Lisburn
A man and woman have escaped injury after the front door of their house was set on fire in Lisburn. The attack happened in the Ballymacross Hill area between 6am and 6.45am on Sunday, 14 January. Graffiti was also daubed on the side wall of the property. Scorch damage was caused to the front door and wall. The man and woman were left badly shaken.

Investigation Launched Following Burglary In Co Antrim
An investigation has launched following a burglary at a house in Co Antrim. The break-in occurred in the Massereene Gardens area on Tuesday, 09 January. A number of items including cash, bank cards, jewellery, and electronic items were stolen.

Man Killed In County Armagh Road Crash
Police have issued appeal for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in County Armagh. A man, aged in his 60s, has died after his car left the road and collided with a tree on the Bessbrook Road near Markethill on Thursday, 11 January. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no one else in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Man arrested following woman's death in Whiteabbey
Police called to a house in Glenville Road in Whiteabbey have discovered the body of a 21-year-old woman. The body was found at around 3am on Monday morning in what is believed to have been the woman's home. It is understood that the woman had been stabbed. Police have arrested a 21-year-old man.

Man Guilty Of Offences During Covenant Day Parade
A 24-year-old man has appeared in court accused of drunkenly antagonising nationalist residents during the Ulster Covenant centenary parade in Belfast. Police on duty at the parade in the city arrested James Symington, of no fixed address, on 29 September.

Pensioners Flee Bangor Arson Attack
Police in North Down are appealing for information following a suspicious fire at a community hall in the Skipperstone Road area of Bangor on Thursday. At around 9.00pm, petrol was poured over the door of the centre and set alight. A number of pensioners were in the community centre at the time.
