Families Launch Legal Attempt Over Troubles Inquests
Relatives of over 30 people killed during the Troubles in Northern Ireland have launched a legal attempt to release £10 million funding to hold inquests into their deaths.
The Northern Ireland Office (NIO) and the executive at Stormont have 14 days to release the funds.
Families of the victims held a protest outside Stormont on Thursday, 22 September.
Lord Chief Justice for Northern Ireland, Sir Declan Morgan, said the inquests should be heard.
Padraigh O Muirigh, a lawyer for the families, said: "I believe the British government are ignoring a warning from the Council of Europe and also from the lord chief justice. Very clearly, they are in breach of their human rights application on this issue."
Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann said: "It is important that British Prime Minister Theresa May recognises the responsibility of her government to deal with the legacy of the past.
"The British government cannot keep denying truth to grieving families, some of whom have been waiting for more than 40 years.
"Sinn Féin will continue to support the Ballymurphy families in their campaign for truth."

Secretary meets to discuss 1974 bombings inquiry
The Northern Ireland Secretary of State Dr John Reid has met the judge leading the inquiry into the 1974 Dublin-Monaghan bombings over delays in the provision of information. Justice Henry Barron requested Wednesday’s meeting at 2.30 pm following criticism by a group of relatives of the 33 victims of the bombings, Justice for the Forgotten.
