£280,000 Worth Of Cannabis Seized In L'Derry
Two men have been arrested after police seized £280,000 worth of cannabis in Co L'Derry.
The suspects, aged 25 and 40, were pulled over by police in the Trench Road and a van was stopped on the Hillhall Road at Toomebridge Bypass.
Herbal cannabis worth an estimated street value of £280,000 was found in the car and £10,400 in cash was discovered in the van.
The pair have been detained in custody.
Detective Inspector Tom McClure, from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch, said: "We remain committed to making Northern Ireland a hostile environment for those individuals and groups who are involved in major drugs crime.
"We will continue to work to identify them, disrupt their activities, arrest them and place them before the courts."
DUP Foyle MLA Gary Middleton said: "This is a significant find of drugs in Londonderry and I want to congratulate the Police for their work in finding them.
"The PSNI are committed to halting drug crime in Northern Ireland and this is another clear example of their continued work in combating the scourge of drugs. Drugs can destroy lives and communities and I am pleased that this very substantial amount has been taken off the street.
"This seizure of drugs will have saved lives and it is worrying to think what could have happened if these drugs had been sold on."
