Weymoth Bus Drivers Pay Dispute Settled
The five-month old pay dispute involving bus drivers in Weymouth and Bridport in Dorset has been settled.
The deal was thrashed out in talks between senior management from First Group, the parent company of First Hampshire & Dorset Ltd, as well as local managers, and Unite national officer for passenger transport Bobby Morton and shop stewards from the bus drivers.
Unite national officer for passenger transport Bobby Morton said: "This has been a long running dispute; however we have finally hammered out a peace plan that was accepted by our members.
"I would like to salute the solidarity that our members have shown since the first strikes in June and without that solidarity we would not have been able to achieve the current deal.
"Unite would also like to thank the Dorset public for its support of our members which sustained them during this difficult time.
"The drivers are now working normally and Unite wishes to build a constructive relationship with the management of First Hampshire & Dorset as we move forward."
The terms of the settlement will not be made public.

Bus Drivers Begin Strike
London bus drivers have begun a 24-hour striker due to a dispute over pay. Around 2,500 employees of travel company First will take part in the action, which will affect 80 routes across the east and west of the city. Members of the Unite union want a standard £30,000 rate of pay for drivers across the bus network, based on a 38-hour week.

Bus Drivers Unite Over Strike Action
Drivers at Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are to unite in protest over proposals to cut their work force. Drivers' body, the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) are expected to vote in favour of industrial action over a plan to axe around 600 jobs. The NBRU, represents about two thirds of drivers at the two companies.

Over 700 Co-op Drivers Accept Package Of Proposals
More than 700 Co-op drivers have voted by a large margin to accept a package of proposals to settle the dispute over the outsourcing of jobs. Unite the union recommended that its members accept the offer hammered out after two days of hard bargaining at the conciliation service Acas before the Easter holiday.

Ipswich Bus Drivers To Strike Over Pay
Around 140 Ipswich bus drivers will be striking for 24-hours next Monday, 10 October, in a low pay dispute. Unite the union said that the strike centred on raising the pay for the lower paid third of the drivers working for borough council-owned Ipswich Buses. The strike will start at 4.55am.
