Sinn Fein MLA Assaulted In Belfast

Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly was reportedly attacked in Belfast.

He sustained facial injuries after being attacked in the Cathedral Quarter area on Saturday, 17 December.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault.

Mr Kelly said: "I have made a formal complaint to the PSNI after I was assaulted in Belfast city centre last night. 

"One man has been arrested and is being interviewed by the police in connection with the incident."

A teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old man in L'Derry. Gerard Quinn was attacked in the Milldale Crescent area at around 10.25pm on Saturday, 21 May. He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he later died.

Woman Assaulted In South Belfast
A woman has been attacked and threatened during an aggravated burglary in south Belfast. The incident happened at a property in Beit Street at around 6am on Sunday. The man entered the house, assaulted and threatened the woman, and then fled the scene on a bicycle.

Man Assaulted In Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked by five people in Belfast. The assault happened in the Ormeau Avenue area on Sunday, 20 December. The 21-year-old victim was attacked by a gang as he left licensed premises in the early hours of the morning. He was treated in hospital for cuts and bruises to his face and hands.

Couple Assaulted In Belfast Robbery
A couple have been assaulted by three men at their home in East Belfast. The men forced their way into the property on the Upper Newtownards Road on Sunday just after 10.30pm. The pair were tied up and attacked in the incident. The attackers got away with a large amount of jewellery.
