Investigation Launched After Three Vehicles Set Alight In Co Down

Police have launched an investigation after three vehicles were set on fire in Holywood, Co Down.

The incidents are believed to have occurred between 3.15am and 4am on Sunday, 01 January.

The front windscreen of a Chrysler Grand Voyager was smashed and the inside of the vehicle was set alight in the East Link area.

A Ford Transit van was also destroyed at Abbey Ring.

Damage was also caused to a vehicle in the Priory End area after an attempt to set it on fire.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

DUP MLA Gordon Dunne said: "I am alarmed at this type of attack taking place as we bring in a New Year. This type of activity is totally out of character within the Loughview area of Holywood which enjoys good neighbourly relations.

"There has been considerable investment within this area in recent years through new housing schemes and an attack like has certainly shocked the local community."
