Two Women Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Two women have been convicted for claiming benefits they were not entitled to at Dungannon Magistrates' Court.
Ita Dhariwal claimed Jobseeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £4,466 while failing to declare employment. She was given 100 hours community service.
Ana Goncalves claimed Employment and Support Allowance totalling £3,238 while failing to declare employment. She was fined £225 and ordered to pay an offenders levy of £15.
Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Work Starts On £200,000 Resurfacing Scheme In Co Tyrone
Construction work has started on a £200,000 resurfacing scheme in Omagh, Co Tyrone.
The work on the Donaghanie Road is expected to take around two weeks to complete.
A full closure of the stretch of the B158 Donaghanie Road will be in place for two weeks starting on Tuesday, 10 January.
Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard said: "The benefits of this re-surfacing scheme will help meet the needs of the local economy and improve transport connections for people, goods and services."
The scheme is expected to be completed by 23 January.
Call For New Noise Controls At Airport To Be Adhered To
Alliance Infrastructure spokesperson Kellie Armstrong MLA has said new noise controls at Belfast City Airport must be adhered to, after it was announced a restriction on the number of departure seats sold there is due to be lifted.
The decision, which follows a public inquiry, will mean the two million seats cap will go, with new noise controls installed.
"The cap has always been a poor proxy for stringent noise controls, so this decision is welcome," said Ms Armstrong.
"However, we must ensure the new planned noise controls are adhered to, as residents have genuine concerns about the levels.
"Belfast City Airport is one of our most valuable transport assets, particularly for business. However, the airport and its flight path are surrounded by a dense environment of homes throughout East Belfast, South Belfast and North Down."

Belfast International Airport Serves 5.9m Passengers In 2023
Latest figures show that 2023 was a successful year for Belfast International Airport as it served 5.9 million passengers. Annual traffic results published by VINCI Airports show that there were almost 50,000 total aircraft movements at Belfast International in 2023, which is an increase of 23 per cent on 2022 figures.
