Man Attacked During South Belfast Street Robbery

A man has sustained injuries to his head and upper body after being attacked during a street robbery in south Belfast.

The incident occurred in the Malone Place area in the early hours of Saturday, 18 March.

Two men forced the victim to empty his pockets and stole his wallet and mobile phone.

The suspects made off in the direction of Blondin street.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Arson Released On Bail
A man arrested on suspicion of arson in Finaghy has been released on bail pending further enquiries. Two people were rescued from a blaze at a house in the area on Sunday, 07 January. The fire was reported at around 2.30am and emergency services attended the scene. A 32-year-old man and a woman in her 60s were rescued from the property.

Man Stabbed In West Belfast
A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in west Belfast. The attack happened in the Hawthorn Street area at around 1.40pm on Thursday. The victim is believed to be in his 30s. A section of Hawthorn Street was closed and police examined the area. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Robbery at North Belfast off-licence
Police have appealed for information following a robbery at an off-licence in Broom Street in north Belfast. The robbery occured at around 8.30pm on Thursday evening. A man approached the cash desk with goods, but when the till was opened he grabbed the female sales assistant by the hair and arm, and demanding money from the till.

A man, who was questioned following a bank robbery on Friday, has been released without charge. The man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after police carried out searches at a number of houses in north Belfast.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Conor McKee
A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Conor McKee. Mr McKee was found dead at his home in Glenpark Street in north Belfast on Thursday, 07 January. He had been shot a number of times. The suspect is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.

Armed robbery in south Belfast
Detectives in Musgrave Street have appealed for witnesses following an armed robbery at a Chinese Restaurant on Monday afternoon. The incident happened at around midnight, when a man entered the restaurant in the Ebor Street area of south Belfast and produced a gun.

Man Charged Following Drugs Find
A man has been charged after police seized drugs, worth a street value of between £50,000-£75,000, in Co L'Derry. Cannabis plants and herbal cannabis were discovered during search in the High Street area in Draperstown on Wednesday. A 35-year-old man has been charged with possession and cultivation of class B drugs with intent to supply.

Around 20,000 LED Street Lights To Be Installed Across NI
Approximately 20,000 LED street lights are to be installed across Northern Ireland over the next eight months. The major pilot scheme, in Banbrdige and Craigavon, was announced by Regional Development Minister, Danny Kennedy.

Road Works To Get Started In Belfast
The Department for Regional Development will start work on a number of junction improvements in Belfast city centre next week. The improvements on Grosvenor Road/Durham Street and Hope Street/Great Victoria Street are part of the Belfast On The Move Transport Masterplan which will give higher priority to public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation after a viable device was found under a car in north Belfast in October 2015. The man has been detained under the Terrorism Act and has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite to be questioned.

An investigation has been launched after a quantity of cigarettes were stolen during a burglary in east Belfast. The incident is believed to have happened at commercial premises in the Craigleith Drive area after 10pm on Wednesday, 17 January. It was reported to the police shortly before 6am on Thursday, 18 January.

Maureen Kerrigan claimed Pension Credit totalling £8,532 while failing to declare her partner’s employment. She was given a two month prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

Armed Masked Man Robs Shop In L'Derry
A masked man armed with a knife has robbed a bookmaker's shop in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Blucher Street area at around 7.30pm on Tuesday. He demanded staff to hand over money and made off with a sum of cash. He is described as being around 6ft tall and was wearing a dark coat and tracksuit bottoms.
