Fresh Search For Disappeared Victim's Body To Begin In France

A fresh search is to get underway in northern France on Tuesday, 02 May, for the remains of one of Northern Ireland's Disappeared.

Seamus Ruddy, 32, was abducted in Paris and killed by the INLA in 1985. He was secretly buried in France.

The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) will start the search at a forest at Pont-de-l'Arche outside Rouen.

Mr Ruddy was from Newry and was teaching in Paris.

Fresh Appeal For Information On Belfast Man Missing Since Boxing Day
Police in Belfast have issued a fresh appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of William Morrison, who has been missing since Boxing Day. Mr Morrison, who is aged in his 60s, was last seen in the Skegoneil Avenue area on Tuesday, 26 December. He is described as being 5'5 tall with a slim build and pale complexion.

Fresh Appeal For Information On Assault Of Anthony McMahon
Police have issued a fresh appeal for information on a serious assault in Newtownabbey in August 2017. 59-year-old Anthony McMahon was found unconscious with severe head and facial injuries in a carpark on Longwood Road at 10:40pm on Tuesday, 15 August.

Yellow Warning For Snow And Ice Issued In NI
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across Northern Ireland on Monday, 15 January, until Tuesday, 16 January. The warning has been put in place from 6pm until 11.55pm. Frequent and heavy snow showers are expected throughout NI.

Yellow Weather Warning For Fog Extended Across NI
The Met Office has extended a yellow weather warning for fog across Northern Ireland. The warning remains in place from 3pm today, 11 January, until 3am on Friday, 12 January. A number of flights have been cancelled and passengers are being advised to check with airlines before travelling.

Karen Bradley Appointed New Secretary Of State
Culture Secretary Karen Bradley has been appointed the new Secretary of State. She has taken up the post after James Brokenshire stood down due to health reasons. Mrs Bradley has been the MP for Staffordshire Moorlands since May 2010. She also became Home Office Minister in 2014.

NI Secretary Of State Resigns
Northern Ireland Secretary of State James Brokenshire has resigned. He said the resignation is due to ill health. It is understood he is to undergo surgery on one of his lungs. He took up the role in July 2016 and replaced Theresa Villiers.

Over 200 schools have closed due to the heavy snow across Northern Ireland. The Department of Infrastructure confirmed conditions are extremely difficult, however gritters have worked throughout the night and are continuing to work today, 17 January.

Initiative Re-Launched In Bid To Tackle Bogus Callers Across NI
The PSNI and the Utility Regulator have re-launched a new initiative aimed at tackling bogus callers and helping people feel safer in their homes. The 'Quick Check 101' scheme allows residents to dial 101 to check the identity of callers to their home who claim to represent an energy or water network company.

Mrs Bradley has replaced James Brokenshire after he resigned from the post due to health reasons. The former accountant moved from her former role as Culture Secretary in a cabinet reshuffle earlier this week.
