Two Arrested Over Money Laundering And Drugs Trafficking

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to launder money and drugs trafficking offences.

The man and woman were arrested in Belfast and Crumlin on Wednesday, 17 May.

They have been detained by the police.

Investigations are ongoing.

Dawson WAM To Start Work On Flood Alleviation Project

Dawson WAM is to start work on a flood alleviation project for NI Water.

The work, which will begin at the start of June, will take place on the Upper Newtownards Road / Knock Road area of east Belfast.

The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2018.

It will involve the upgrade of existing and installation of new sewers on the Upper Newtownards and Knock Roads, as well as sewers within some other residential streets in the area. It is being undertaken to resolve historical internal and external 'out of sewer' flooding issues and when complete it will increase the capacity of the existing sewerage system in the area and reduce the risk of 'out of sewer' flooding and environmental pollution.

NI Water will be hosting a public consultation at Knock Methodist Church On Wednesday, 31 May, between 4-7pm to discuss the scheme.

During the main sewer laying works, temporary lane closures will be required on the Upper Newtownards and Knock Road for safety reasons.

Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Lisburn Magistrates Court.

Aaron Hull claimed Jobseeker's Allowance totalling £3,351 while failing to declare employment. He was given a two month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of Andrew James Thompson
A 44-year-old man has been jailed for manslaughter and committing arson recklessly to endanger life having unlawfully killed Andrew James Thompson. At Newry Crown Court, Gary Anthony Magee was sentenced to serve seven years in prison, half to be served in custody and half on license, following his guilty plea last October.

Man Extradited From Poland To NI To Stand Trial For Alleged Child Sex Offences
A 59-year old man that has been extradited from Poland to Northern Ireland is to stand trial for sexual offences against children today, 31 January. Officers from the PSNI's International Policing Unit extradited the man yesterday, 30 January, ahead of his expected appearance before Downpatrick Crown Court today.

Man Extradited By PSNI To Slovakia
Officers from the PSNI's International Policing Unit extradited a 52-year-old man from Northern Ireland to Slovakia, yesterday, 29 January. The man who was wanted in relation to a number of fraud offences, will now stand trial in Slovakia.

Man Arrested After Using Van To Attack Police Officers
The PSNI has condemned an incident in which a man used a van to repeatedly ram a police patrol car and attempted to run over an officer in Newry on Saturday, 03 February. Shortly after 11:20pm, officers on patrol approached a man standing beside a white Peugeot van in the Castlekeele Estate area.

Man Arrested In Connection With Sean Fox Murder Investigation
PSNI detectives investigating the murder of Sean Fox in west Belfast in 2022 have arrested a 40-year-old man. The man was arrested following searches in west Belfast this morning, 1 February. The suspect was arrested under the Terrorism Act, and has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite in Musgrave for questioning.
