Extra Security Measures To Be Taken At SSE Arena

SSE Arena in Belfast has confirmed it is stepping up security following the attack in Manchester,

22 people were killed and 59 were injured at Manchester Arena on Monday, 22 May.

General Manager of the SSE Arena, Neil Walker, said: "The senior management team of the Odyssey Trust and SSE Arena, Belfast were shocked and saddened by the terrible event in Manchester last night and our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones and those who were injured in this horrific attack.

"We have carefully assessed the implications of this attack for upcoming events at the SSE Arena, Belfast and all events are currently proceeding as planned, including this evening's show by Professor Brian Cox.

"We take security very seriously and safety of our patrons is always our top priority.

"We believe in the current circumstances it is important that we continue to operate as normal."

Home Safety And Crime Prevention Event At Belfast City Hall
A free home safety and crime prevention advice event is to be held at Belfast City Hall on Friday, 01 March. The Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has organised the event, which is free and will take place from 10am-1pm in Belfast City Hall. Odyssey Arena To Be Renamed Following Refurb
The Odyssey Arena, Northern Ireland's largest and most famous entertainment venue, is to be renamed the SSE Arena Belfast when it opens following refurbishment in September. The SSE Arena Belfast will join the UK-wide stable of SSE entertainment venues including the SSE Hydro in Glasgow and the SSE Arena, Wembley.
