NI Temperatures To Reach 26 Degrees

Temperatures in Northern Ireland are expected to reach 26 degrees today, 26 May.

Long spells of sunshine will continue throughout the day with clear blue skies.

The Public Health Agency (PHA) has issued a reminder to people to "take care in the sun".

Dr Miriam McCarthy, Consultant in Public Health Medicine at the PHA, said: "Being active and having fun outside is good for our health. It improves our moods, allows us to get more active and provides vitamin D.

"The sun can cause permanent damage to our skin if we don't take precautions. Just one episode of sunburn, especially in childhood, doubles the lifetime risk of malignant melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer."

However, the Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning for heavy rain on Saturday, 27 May. Outbreaks of rain, which may be heavy and thundery at times, are expected.

The warning has been put in place from 1pm until 11pm.

Sunday, 28 May, and Monday, 29 May, will be quite cloudy with outbreaks of rain.
