Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
David Brown claimed Jobseeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £6,468 while failing to declare employment. He was given 100 hours community service.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
One-Way System To Be Put In Place During Resurfacing Work In Newry
A one-way system is to be put in place from New Street to Damolly roundabout on Monday, 12 June, for the final stage of works to begin on the £350,000 resurfacing project on the A28 Belfast Road in Newry.
The scheme, on the main road from Newry to Belfast, will provide almost 1km of new asphalt road surface, footways and associated drainage improvement works. The resurfacing work extends for a distance of approximately 0.7km from its junction with New Street, to just beyond its junction with the Ashgrove Road.
The one-way system will divert traffic via A28 onto A27 Armagh Road arriving at Newry Court House. HGV traffic will be diverted via the A1 onto the Dublin Road to access Newry City. All vehicles accessing properties and businesses between New Street and the Damolly roundabout (Mourne Country) will be required to use the one way system during its operation. All motorists are advised to follow the signs and allow additional time for travelling.
The work is expected to be substantially completed by Friday, 07 July.
Alliance Is Only Capable Of Stopping DUP Gain In South Belfast - Bradshaw
Alliance Westminster candidate Paula Bradshaw has said the chance for South Belfast to elect its first positive, progressive, pro-Europe MP is now only days away.
Speaking ahead of polling day on 08 June, she said she was the only progressive candidate capable of stopping a DUP gain in South Belfast.
She said: "I want to see an open and inclusive South Belfast, where everyone is valued and all traditions are celebrated. Alliance is best placed to deliver this.
"As a vocal advocate of LGBT rights and a passionate campaigner on women's issues, it's embarrassing Northern Ireland is the only part of these islands without equal marriage and frustrating that criminalising of women around abortion continues.
"The public support and willingness to combat such prejudice exists, and shows there is an opportunity for us all, as friends and allies, to express our solidarity and support for overcoming those challenges together and delivering real equality for everyone.
"When it comes to abortion, we must see a fundamental change in the law without delay. Women's health should be the priority, not criminalising those who need to access services here."

Road Closed In North Belfast Following Collision
The Ligoniel Road in north Belfast has closed following a one-vehicle collision. The road has been closed in both directions near the Wolfhill Road, according to the police. Diversions have been put in place and motorists are being advised to avoid the area. No other details have been released.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
