Two Men Arrested Over UDA Crime In West Belfast

Two men have been arrested by police investigating organised crime, which is believed to be linked to the UDA in west Belfast.

The suspects, aged 34 and 35, have been taken to Musgrave Police Station to be questioned.

A large quantity of cash was also seized.

No further information has been released.

Joe Reilly Murder: Man Arrested
A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Joe Reilly. Mr Reilly, 43, was shot at his home in the Glenwood Court area of Poleglass, west Belfast, on 20 October. The suspect was arrested on Monday, 19 December, and has been taken to Musgrave Police station to be questioned.

Police target car crime in West Belfast and Lisburn
Police arrested 21 people and recovered 23 vehicles last month in its efforts to cut down car crime in West Belfast and Lisburn figures released today have shown. The figures for the work of the Auto Crime Team (ACT) also revealed that since its inception in July 2002, 623 arrests have been made and 459 vehicles recovered.

Warning Signs To Be Installed To Prevent Use Of Scramblers
Warning signs are to be installed across west Belfast to warn against the use of off-road vehicles being used in parks and public spaces. Police will also patrol hotspot areas to disrupt the dangerous, illegal activity and identify the people involved. The scheme has been launched by the West Belfast DPCSP and the PSNI.

UDA bomb move 'not an act of decommissioning'
Police last night discovered 18 pipe bombs on playing fields at Somerdale Park in the Crumlin Road area of north Belfast. The Ulster Defence Association (UDA) claimed it left the devices in the playing fields "as part of the ongoing steps to stabilise and normalise loyalist west Belfast".

Joseph Reynolds Suspect Released
A suspect arrested in the case of the murder of Joseph Reynolds has been released. The 49-year-old was detained in the east Belfast area on Wednesday morning by detectives investigating the murder of Mr Reynolds, who was shot by UVF gunmen in 1993. The arrest followed the reopening of the investigation at the beginning of October.
