Man Attacked In Co Tyrone

The PSNI have launched an investigation in connection with an unprovoked serious attack in Co Tyrone.

The victim was making his way home along Georges Street in Omagh when he was assaulted by a group of men in the early hours of Sunday, 23 July.

The man, aged in his 30s, sustained injuries to his head and face.

A woman was with him at the time.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Elsewhere, a man has been injured following an altercation in Bangor, Co Down.

The assault happened in the Cloverhill Grove area on Sunday, 23 July.

A PSNI spokesperson said: A PSNI spokesman said: "A 27 year old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following an incident at an address in Cloverhill Grove in Bangor yesterday evening, Sunday 23 July.

"Shortly before 4.15pm police received a report that an altercation was ongoing at a house in the area. Police attended and the 27 year old male was arrested. He remains in police custody at this time. A 34 year old male was taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected broken nose and a cut to his eye."

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.
