Investigation Launched Into West Belfast Assault

An investigation is underway after three men were assaulted in west Belfast on Saturday, 05 August.

Police said the victims were walking on Kells Avenue at around 8.25am when a red coloured Southern-registered Volkswagen Golf stopped beside them.

Two men jumped from the vehicle and assaulted two men. After stealing a wallet from one of them, one of the suspects also produced a hammer and threatened the victims, with a 71-year-old man sustaining a bump to the head.

The suspects eventually got back into the car and made off. Elsewhere, officers are investigating criminal damage to a car in Oranmore Drive around the same time.

It was reported that two men in a red coloured car smashed the windscreen and passenger window of a Toyota car parked on the street.

Sergeant Tom Donnelly said police are investigating a link between both incidents.

"Anyone who witnessed the incidents or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officers in Woodbourne Police Station on 101 quoting reference number 360 of 05/08/17," he said.

"Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Guns stolen in Co Antrim assault
Police are appealing for information after a gang assaulted a man and stole his guns in Co Antrim. The masked men forced their way into the man's home in Burnbrae in Bushmills at around 1.30am on Tuesday morning. They hit the man before tying his hands behind his back and escaping with three guns.

Man Seriously Injured After Being Attacked In Omagh
A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked in Omagh, Co Tyrone. The assault happened in the Hospital Road area at around 3am on Saturday, 30 July. A gang of men got out of a black coloured car and attacked the victim with a type of club or bat. He sustained a number of injuries to his head and body.
