Rider Dies After Collision At Dundrod 150 Races

A rider from Wigan has died following a collision at the Dundrod 150 National race at the Ulster Grand Prix.

Jamie Hodson, aged 35, was involved in the incident at 'Joey's Windmill' section of the circuit on Thursday, 10 August.

His brother Rob was also involved, however he was not seriously injured.

The Dundrod & District Motorcycle Club expressed its sincere condolences to Jamie’s family and friends.

Man Arrested And Cocaine Seized in Co Antrim
A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the seizure of cocaine in Co Antrim. Detective Inspector Alan Pyper from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch explains: "Police stopped a vehicle on the Dundrod Road, Nutts Corner at around 9.30pm last night and recovered a large quantity of suspected cocaine from the vehicle.

Motorcyclist In Critical Condition Following Ulster Grand Prix Crash
A rider is in a critical condition in hospital following a collision at the Ulster Grand Prix meeting in Dundrod, County Antrim. The crash occurred during the first lap of the ultra Lightweight/Lightweight event on Thursday. The driver, who name has not been released, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Fires Probed
As the police investigate the circumstances of an arson attack in Newtownards, another overnight fire - this time at an industrial estate in Crumlin - is also being treated as suspicious. The second blaze broke out at Dundrod Road, Nutts Corner, shortly before 2.30am this morning (Monday).

Arrests After Antrim Armed Robbery
Four people are being questioned by police in relation to an armed robbery at a Co Antrim home. Two men aged 27, a 43-year-old man and a woman, 44, have been arrested in connection with the robbery of the family at Dundrod, outside Lisburn on Monday afternoon.

Coleraine Road Death Pushes Toll Up Again
Just as details of a man who died after a road accident in Co Down on Wednesday night were being released, another man has been killed in a road accident, this time near Coleraine. The earlier victim was just 18 years old, and has been identified as Stephen Barlow from the Banbridge area.

Ulster Grand Prix axed for 2002
The organisers of one of Northern Ireland’s biggest sporting attractions, the Ulster Grand Prix have announced they will not be running the event next year. The organisers of the annual Dundrod races, Coleraine club, pulled the plug on the 2002 event after a full meeting of the club on Thursday November 22.

One injured in road crash in Newry
One person has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision on the Rathfriland Road, Newry. The victim is believed to be have suspected concussion and facial injuries. The accident occurred at around 7.30am this morning. The incident involved two vehicles, and the road was closed in both directions.

Department Promotes 'Bike Week'
The Department for Regional Development is encouraging the Northern Ireland public to get on their bikes for Bike Week, which runs from 15 - 23 June. The scheme has been launched to highlight the health, financial and environmental benefits associated with cycling. National Bike Week takes place across the UK and Ireland.

Teenager Critical Following Glengormley Collision
A teenager is in a critical condition in hospital after he was struck by a car in Glengormley, Co Antrim. The incident occurred on the Ballyclare Road shortly before 5pm on Wednesday, 18 October. The crash involved a silver Audi TT. The boy was treated by paramedics at the scene and was taken to hospital.

No Prosecution For Suspects Named By Supergrass Gary Haggarty
Thirteen people implicated by loyalist supergrass Gary Haggarty will not be prosecuted, the Public Prosecutions Service (PPS) has confirmed. Director of the PPS Barry McGrory said there was insufficient corroborating evidence to support the allegations.

Call For UVF To Withdraw Threats Made To Catholic Families
Sinn Fein has called on the UVF to withdraw threats made to Catholic families living in south Belfast. Four families have been forced to leave their homes in Cantrell Close after being ordered to leave the area. Gerry Kelly MLA also urged the PSNI to bring those involved to justice.

Searches are continuing for missing L'Derry man Jack Glenn. The 23-year-old is believed to have entered the River Foyle on Thursday, 02 February. Foyle Search and Rescue are leading the search and hundreds of people got involved over the weekend.

Man Arrested Following House Search In Co L'Derry
A man has been arrested in Claudy, Co L'Derry, in connection with a cocaine seizure in Co Antrim last year. The 36-year-old suspect has been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to supply a Class A drug following a house search on Wednesday, 27 July.
