Yellow Weather Warning For Heavy Rain Issued In NI

A yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy rain and thundery showers across Northern Ireland.

The alert has been put in place from 2pm today, 22 August, until 10pm tonight.

The Met Office said heavy thundery showers are expected to develop and may cause isolated flooding in some areas.

Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for travelling.

The rain is expected to ease later on tonight.

Appeal Issued After Cars Set On Fire In L'Derry
Police have launched an investigation after several cars were set alight in Co L'Derry. A white BMW 3 series and a Renault Clio were set on fire in the Garrymore Place area at around 1.30am on Thursday, 17 May. Garage doors at the house also went of fire and scorch damage was caused to a neighbouring garage.

Appeal Issued For Larne Man Trevor Beggs
Police have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of 45-year-old Trevor Beggs, who has been missing for almost a week. The PSNI and Trevor's family have said that they are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare. He is described as 5'10'' and of heavy build. He was last seen in Larne on Thursday, 03 May.

Missing Woman Stacey Yates Found
A missing 31-year-old woman who went missing from her home in Coleraine has been found. Stacey Yates was reported missing after leaving her home to go to work at around 6pm on Monday, 23 April. Police confirmed that she has now been found. The PSNI previously issued an appeal for information to help trace her whereabouts.

Appeal Issued After Two Men Seriously Assaulted In Armagh
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following the serious assault of two men in the Mullaghbawn area of south Armagh on Saturday 28 April. It is understood the men, James White and Alexis Guesto, were attacked by a group a so-called vigilantes, who accused the men of being paedophiles.

Yellow Warning For Ice Issued Across NI
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice across Northern Ireland. The warning has been put in place from 6pm on Thursday, 23 November, until 10am on Friday, 24 November. Icy patches are expected on untreated roads and pavements overnight and snow showers may occur on higher ground.

Further Weather Warning For NI Issued
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for most of Northern Ireland. The warning was published shortly after 10am on Wednesday morning (8 October) and lasts until 9pm. Counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Londonderry and Tyrone are all affected.

The yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been extended until 11am on Tuesday, 12 December. The Met Office advised the public to take extra care on pavements and untreated roads. 'Yellow' Warning As Heavy Rain Expected
The UK Met Office has issued a 'yellow' weather warning for Northern Ireland for Sunday, when heavy rain and strong winds are likely to cause localised flooding across the region. Wet and windy weather will cross the UK from the west during Sunday. Rainfall accumulations of 15 to 25mm are expected quite widely with 35mm or more locally.
