Investigation Launched After Sudden Death Of Teenager In Portadown

Police have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a teenager in Portadown.

It is believed the body of the 16-year-old boy was found at his house on Tuesday, 22 August.

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out to determine the cause of his death.

No further details have been released.

Investigation Launched After Man Assaulted In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a man was attacked in north Belfast. The assault happened in the Cliftonpark Avenue area at around 7pm on Wednesday, 01 November. The victim, aged 30, was approached by two males in the area.

Charity calls for cardiac checks in NI
A leading local charity has expressed concern that measures to combat sudden cardiac deaths will be introduced in England but not in Northern Ireland. The Health Secretary, Dr John Reid, recently announced that screening will be introduced for close family members of sudden cardiac death syndrome victims in England.

Investigation Launched After Sudden Death Of Bangor Teenager
An investigation has been launched by the PSNI following the sudden death of a teenage girl in Bangor on Saturday. 16-year-old Gaenor Thompson was a pupil at Bangor Academy. The police said a post-mortem is being carried out to determine the cause of her death.

Woman Dies In Garage Fire At Portadown Home
A woman has died after a fire in the garage of a house in Portadown, County Armagh. The fire at Oakleigh Park, off the Brownstown Road, was reported to police shortly after 07:20 GMT on Monday. Police and firefighters are still at the scene and are investigating the cause of the fire. The woman's name has not yet been released.

HSE Investigate Sudden Death In Co Antrim
An investigation has been launched into the sudden death of a man in Doagh, Co Antrim. Police were called to commercial premises on the Kilbride Road at about 21:00 on Tuesday. It is understood that a 57-year-old man has died. A post-mortem is due to be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Two Men Arrested Over Alleged Death Threats To Darren Kelly
Two men have been arrested over alleged death threats sent to Oldham manager Darren Kelly from Northern Ireland. Greater Manchester Police arrested a 27-year-old man and 42-year-old man on suspicion of making threats to kill. They are being detained by the police for questioning.

NI Drug Deaths Double
The number of drug related deaths registered each year has more than doubled over the last decade rising from 39 deaths in 1997 to 86 last year. The 86 fatalities were registered in Northern Ireland where the cause of death was drug related, either due to legal or illegal drugs.

Teenager Road Victim Named
The grim death toll on NI roads has risen again with news that an 18-year-old woman has passed away in hospital after a weekend car crash in Co Fermanagh. She was named this morning as Shelley Sturgeon from Menapian Way in Enniskillen.
