Three People Arrested Over Criminal Activity Linked To The UVF

Three people have been arrested as part of ongoing investigations into criminal activity linked to the UVF in north Belfast.

The PSNI's Criminal Investigation branch carried out a total of seven searches on Monday, 11 September.

A man and woman were detained in Newtownabbey and a 56-year-old man was arrested in north Belfast.

They are all being questioned at Musgrave Police Station.

Missing Boy Found 'Safe And Well'
A nine-year-old boy who went missing from Lurgan in Co Armagh has been found "safe and well". Connor Creaney was reported missing from the Shankill area on Thursday afternoon, 15 February. He was out playing with his friends and failed to return home. A search was launched and he was located on Friday morning, 16 February.

Ten Councils To Increase Rates In NI
Ten out of 11 district council's in Northern Ireland are to increase rates from April this year. Causeway Coast and Glens Council is not raising rates, for a third year successive year. Newry Mourne and Down Council announced a 3.38% increase and Belfast City Council rates are rising by 1.98%.

350 Jobs On Offer At Jobs Fair In Belfast
A total of 350 jobs will be on offer at a major jobs fair at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. The event, in partnership with Belfast City council, will take place on Wednesday, 07 February, from 10am to 3pm. Over 75 employers will be available from a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, I.T, healthcare, customer services and many more.

Three Arrested Over 1994 UVF Murders
Three men have been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of two Catholic workmen almost 20 years ago. In May 1994, Gary Convie, 24, and 44-year-old Eamon Fox were sitting in their car at a building site in North Queen Street, Belfast, when a gunman opened fire. The two men were shot dead by the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF).

Two Arrests Over Racial Hate Crime Attack
Police have arrested two men in relation to what they are describing as a racial hate crime in north Belfast. The pair, aged 20 and 21, were arrested following criminal damage was caused to a vehicle on the Cliftonville Road. The men are still being questioned by police.

Madam Threatened NI Prostitutes With Murder
A madam threatened prostitutes with violence and murder, Belfast Crown Court was told yesterday. Rong Chen, 35, a one-time prostitute, lured women to Northern Ireland with promises of legitimate jobs. They were then forced to work in brothels in Belfast, Newry and Londonderry.

Man Stabbed In North Belfast
A man has been injured after being stabbed in north Belfast. The attack happened on the Antrim Road just after midnight on Friday, 09 February. A 23-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen and a 22-year-old woman sustained a small cut to her face. The man is receiving hospital treatment. Sinn Féin Councillor JJ Magee condemned the attack.

Belfast Woman Escapes Gun Attack
A Belfast woman has narrowly escaped injury after an Estonian man was shot at a bar she was working in at the time in Spain. The victim was sitting on the terrace of the Point pub in Nueva Andalucía at around 9pm last night when two men came up on a moped. One of the men shot the victim in the back of the neck.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Conor McKee
A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Conor McKee. Mr McKee was found dead at his home in Glenpark Street in north Belfast on Thursday, 07 January. He had been shot a number of times. The suspect is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.

Woman's body found in boot of car
Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a woman's body in the boot of a car in north Belfast early this morning. Police made the find after receiving a tip-off about suspicious activity in the Skegoneil Avenue area just after 1am.

'Prominent' Loyalist Arrested Over 1994 UVF Murders
A "prominent" loyalist has been arrested in the UK in connection with three UVF murders in 1994. According to reports, detectives have arrested 45-year-old Mark Haddock as part of an investigation into the shooting of Sean McParland in north Belfast.

Two More Arrested Over 1994 UVF Murder
Police have arrested two more people in the investigation into the 1994 murder of two workmen in north Belfast. A 48-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were arrested on Wednesday morning, following the arrests of three men on Tuesday.

Man Attacked By Armed Gang In North Belfast
A man has been attacked by a gang of armed men at a house in north Belfast. The assault happened in the Oakley Street area in the early hours of Wednesday, 14 February. The victim was punched in the head and a front window of the property was also smashed. One man was armed with a sword and the other men had bats and bars.

'UVF' Weapons Cache Seized In Ballysillan
An investigation into a 'sudden death' in north Belfast has uncovered more than expected. More than 70 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition have been recovered from a house in a loyalist area of Belfast. Police made the discovery after the death of a man in Belfast's Ballysillan area at the weekend.
