Police Appeal After Man Armed With Knife Steals Till From Shop In Ballymena

Police are appealing for information after a man, armed with a knife, stole a cash register from a shop in Ballymena.

The incident occurred at premises on Queen Street at around 6.30am on Monday, 11 September.

the suspect is described as being approximately 6ft in height and had his face covered with a dark balaclava.

The PSNI are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Cyclist Struck By Van In L'Derry Dies
A cyclist, aged in his 20s, has died after he was struck by a van in Co L'Derry on Thursday, 16 November. The crash happened on the Glenshane Road near Maghera. The man died from his injuries in hospital on Saturday, 18 November. The driver of the van was arrested and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Twelve Cars Damaged In Attack
The tyres of 12 vehicles have been slashed in the Short Strand area of Belfast, police have confirmed. It is understood the attacks happened in the east of the city overnight and were carried out in Perry Court, Madrid Street, Clandeboye Drive and Clandeboye Gardens. At least one tyre on each vehicle was damaged.

A police officer has been disciplined after a driver escaped punishment for knocking down a pedestrian. The incident happened in L'Derry in December 2015.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Second Man Arrested Over Liverpool Hit-And-Run
A second man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Liverpool in which Co Antrim man Matthew Bradley was killed. The 33-year-old man was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in Bradford. He has been conditionally bailed to appear in court in December, according to Merseyside Police.

Man Arrested Over Paramilitary Style Attack In L'Derry
A man has been arrested in connection with a paramilitary style shooting in Co L'Derry. A 33-year-old man was shot in the legs and abdomen in the Lisfannon Park area on Tuesday, 08 August. Police described the assault as "brutal and horrific". A 26-year-old man was detained in the Drumahoe area on Thursday, 16 November.

Man To Serve At Least 13 Years For Laundrette Murder
The murderer of Marion Millican, Fred McClenaghan, has been sentenced to a minimum of 13 years in prison. The Magherafelt man, aged 56, pleaded guilty to murdering the mother-of-four. The PSNI described him as a very "callous and dangerous" man.

Man Arrested Over Shooting Incident In L'Derry
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Co L'Derry. Shots were fired at a house in the Ballymagowan Avenue area on Thursday, 05 January. No-one was injured, however a man and woman were left badly shaken. The man has been detained as part of a police investigation into dissident republican activity.

Two Men Attacked During Aggravated Burglary In Co Down
Two men have been injured after being attacked during an aggravated burglary in Newtownards, Co Down. A number of masked men, armed with weapons, attacked a house in the Shackleton Walk area at around 9.40pm on Thursday, 16 November. Two men, who were in the property at the time, were assaulted in what police described as a "savage attack".

Man Arrested Over Shooting Attack In L'Derry
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting attack in Co L'Derry. A man, aged 23, was shot in the leg in the Central Drive area on Monday, 27 March. The suspect was detained in the Meenan Square area and was taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite in Belfast for questioning. He was later released unconditionally.

Jennifer McCandless claimed Housing Benefit totalling £22,382 while failing to declare capital. She was given a six month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Police Appeal Over Attempted Armed Robbery In Ballymena
Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Ballymena, Co Antrim. The incident occurred at a shop in the Larne Road area just after 7.40pm on Wednesday. A masked man armed with a knife demanded a staff member to open the till. However, the employee threw water over him and he made off empty handed.

Man Arrested Over Shooting Attack In North Belfast Released Unconditionally
A man arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in north Belfast has been released unconditionally. A 30-year-old man was shot in both legs in the Velsheda Court area of Ardoyne on Monday, 02 October. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A 51-year-old was detained after a search, however he has since been released.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Ballymena. As part of an investigation, the PSNI searched a house in Co Antrim after a number of commercial burglaries in the town centre over the past six months.
