Man Shot In Paramilitary Style Attack In North Belfast

A man has been shot in a paramilitary style attack in north Belfast.

The attack happened in Valsheda Court in the Ardoyne area on Monday, 02 October.

The victim, aged 30, was shot in both legs.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Sinn Féin Councillor Gerry McCabe said: "A man was shot in the legs tonight in Velsheda Court in Ardoyne.

"I condemn this shooting outright.

"There can be no place for these type of actions in our society.

"The people responsible need to end their campaign against the community.

"I would encourage anyone with information to bring it forward to the police."

SDLP North Belfast MLA Nichola Mallon said: "This attack in Ardoyne last night is a throwback to a time that people here want to leave in the past.

"There is no place for guns on our streets and there is no place for those who see fit to issue rough justice in this society.

"I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward to police as soon as possible."
