Northern Ireland To Play Switzerland In World Cup Play-Offs

Northern Ireland will play against Switzerland in next month's World Cup play-offs.

Micheal O'Neill's side were paired with the Swiss and will play at Windsor Park Stadium in the first leg, and away in the second.

Mr O'Neill said: O'Neill said: "Whoever we got we knew it was going to be a difficult game. Switzerland have had a great qualifying campaign, nine victories and one defeat but i think it gives us the opportunity to go to Russia.

"We have to be in the first game in Belfast but we look forward to the games and know we will have to be at our best."

Ulster Bank To Close 11 NI Branches
Ulster Bank has confirmed it plans to close 11 branches next year in Northern Ireland. The bank confirmed it will be seeking 40 voluntary redundancies as a result of the closures. The branches to close are: Ballyclare, Dromore, Moira, Draperstown, Dungiven, Portrush, Killyleagh, Rathfriland, Castlederg, Irvinestown and Stewartstown.

Darren Haigh claimed Jobseeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £18,412 while failing to declare employment. He was sentenced to 60 hours community service.

Firefighters Attacked During Halloween Calls
A number of firefighters have been attacked while responding to Halloween call outs on Tuesday, 31 October. The incidents happened in Armagh, Keady, Crossmaglen and Belfast. No one was injured, however an appliance was slightly damaged in Keady.

BT To Recruit Over 40 Apprentices And Graduates
Telecom giant BT Group is to recruit over 40 apprentices and graduates after announcing it is investing £20million in a major expansion of its broadband services in Northern Ireland. The investment will see a further 140,000 premises gain access to ultrafast broadband.

NI House Prices Continue To Rise
NI house prices continued to rise in October, according to the latest market survey. Northern Ireland surveyors are also positive about the prospects for house prices over the next 12-months, the RICS and Ulster Bank Residential Market Survey suggests. However, surveyors continue to report that a lack of housing stock is a challenge for the market.

IFA Offers Michael O'Neill New Six-Year Contract - Reports
The Irish Football Association has reportedly offered Michael O'Neill a new deal to stay as manager of Northern Ireland. According to Sky Sports News, O'Neill has been offered a new six-year deal. Last week it was reported that the IFA allowed O'Neill to enter talks with the Scottish FA. The deal would see O'Neill remain as manager until 2023.

Pancreatic cancer patients in Northern Ireland are now able to access a life-extending drug on the National Health Service (NHS). SDLP Health Spokesperson Mark H Durkan MLA welcomed the decision.
