Around £75,000 Of Cannabis Plants Seized In South Belfast

Police have seized around £75,000 worth of cannabis plants from a house in south Belfast.

The discovery was made at a property in the Cairnshill Road area on Sunday, 15 October.

A quantity of cash was also found.

Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said: "We are committed to tackling the issue of drugs and this discovery means we have interrupted the cultivation of cannabis and removed a significant quantity of drugs from sale."

SDLP Councillor John Gallen said: "The discovery and seizure of cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £75,000 is good news for our communities.

"The supply chain of drugs in our cities must be disrupted and dismantled. Finds like this move us further toward that goal.

"I would encourage anyone with information about this find or about the supply of drugs in our communities to bring it forward to the police as soon as possible.

"Those involved in dealing drugs don't care about the effect their actions have on people in this city, and particularly young people. They should be brought to justice."
